Course Details

The degree in Business Management is designed to meet the challenges of a dynamic, technology-driven business world. The course will prepare students for management and entrepreneurship roles in different types of organizations and provide a solid foundation for understanding how businesses operate. It also aims to develop the transferrable skills such as leadership skills, business perceptiveness and ability to work collaboratively that will help graduates to pursue career in every section of the economy – from retailing to manufacturing, government to “green” business and as well as establishing their own businesses.

The mainstream BA (Hons) Business Management pathway is structured around the key areas of business, namely Marketing, Human Resource Management, Operations Management and Finance, providing students an understanding of underpinning theories, tools and techniques, fitting them for gainful employment in diverse business environments or to proceed to further study. Students on this mainstream pathway can select Project Management, Strategic Talent Management, Supply Chain Management and Logistics, Negotiations and Influence, Leading across Boundaries, Sales Management optional modules. Areas of employment opportunity might include HR specialist, Supply Chain and Logistics specialist, Project Leader/Manager and other managerial roles.

The BA (Hons) Business Management with Marketing pathway aims to prepare graduates who will be able to make informed marketing decisions. Modules are practical in nature and reflect on the job responsibilities of a variety of marketing professions such as marketing managers, content managers, brand managers, marketing analysts, digital marketing managers as well as job roles in creative agencies. Students will have opportunity to study contemporary modules like Fashion and Lifestyle Marketing, Brand journalism and Content Strategy, Service Marketing, Retailing Business, Digital Marketing, Marketing Analytics, Marketing Strategy. Successful graduates of the course can qualify to work in diverse entry-level marketing jobs as Marketing Specialists, Assistant Brand managers, Digital Marketing specialists, SMM Managers, Research Specialists, and Assistant to Creative directors.

Students at BA (Hons) Business Management with Finance pathway will have a blend of Management and Finance modules. This course will prepare graduates who make informed financial decisions in a complex, vibrant business environment. It is designed to provide understanding of contemporary corporate finance issues that are critically assessed and applied to real world problems. Students will have opportunity to study modules like Applied Corporate Finance, Investment and Risk Management, Fixed Income Securities, Management Accounting, Financial Accounting, Corporate Governance in Finance. Having successfully graduated the course students can qualify to work in diverse entry – level financial jobs as Financial Analyst, Corporate Finance Specialist, Finance Departments of Public and Private Companies.

Course structure

This section shows the core and option modules available as part of the course and their credit value. Full-time Undergraduate students’ study 120 credits per year. The course structure is validated by the University of Westminster every 5 years, but the structure can change by adapting to feedback from a variety of sources.

The BA (Hons) Business Management has three Pathways:

  • BA (Hons) Business Management is the main pathway and all students on the course study the same core or optional modules. Students at Level 5 can elect to remain on this main pathway; or
  • Study a Pathway namely BA (Hons) Business Management with Finance or BA (Hons) Business Management with Marketing.

Entry requirements

Entry requirements for the BA (Hons) Business Management (and Pathways) have been set in order to select potential students who have proven academic ability undertake a UK Undergraduate degree course.

The admissions policy aims to attract and recruit motivated applicants across the full range of possible access routes. Students may have a background in any academic discipline. The over-riding principle upon which admission decisions are based is that applicants should be likely to benefit from and succeed on the course.

General Requirements
Applicants should satisfy at a minimum one of the following requirements:
  • Successful completion of an appropriate International Foundation course; or
  • Successful completion of the first year of an appropriate degree course in a recognised Uzbek or similar university; or
  • Two GCE A level passes (in any subject excluding mother tongue), plus three GCSE passes at grade C or above including English Language and Mathematics; or NC/ND or HNC/HND. (The range of academic disciplines studied is not hereby restricted, but certain vocational courses such as City and Guilds would not satisfy the admissions requirements.); or
  • An Advanced General National Vocational Qualification (GNVQ); or
  • Any other equivalent qualification normally accepted as entry requirements (e.g. International Baccalaureate, etc.).
