It is pleasure to introduce you the First Policy Brief on “Removing Tourism Barriers in Central Asia: A Strategy for Regional Coordination” produced by our senior Research Fellow - Fabrizio Vielmini.
The Brief is about regional tourism issues and the advantages that the five Central Asian countries would get from following an integrated approach in the field.
All Central Asian countries are developing their tourism potentials. Much more could be done if the five countries create a specific regional- based coordination mechanism to address existing hindrances on border crossing, administrative requirements and visa issuing. Overall, such regional cooperation would also improve the brand of Central Asia as a tourist destination fostering demand and leading to improved connectivity within the region. By this way, tourism will in the long run strengthen the long-sought aim of regional integration.
