The Westminster International University in Tashkent (WIUT), ELT in Uzbekistan and Mentor HUB held the ELT Forum to discuss practical suggestions that can change students’ learning. The Forum was attended by local and international English language teaching professionals and it became a platform for exchanging their views.
EL teachers engaged in Special Interest Groups’ (SIGs) discussions. They highlighted a variety of topics that are specific for the context of Uzbekistan teaching and learning. They talked about critical thinking development, sustainability, digital learning, professional development, extra curriculum activities. Participants generated ideas to improve daily practice to enhance students’ learning and their academic achievements.
The event is the first of its kind and WIUT plans to organize it annually to inspire and stimulate teachers to engage in and with research. WIUT is as a strong community and can trigger change through a bottom-up approach. By hosting this Forum here, we wanted to bring ELT professionals with an impact, who will support Uzbekistan’s reform process in educational system.
