JOB TITLE: Academic Officer – Student Records (temporary)

PURPOSE: To assist Head of Student Records in aspects of student administtration such as providing information and support services in accordance with established principles, policies, procedures and regulations of WIUT and the University of Wesminster.
CONTEXT

The university offers a range of University of Westminster validated courses students are registered on the University of Westminster Student Record System and their academic performance and progression is subject to University of Westminster academic regulations and processes. WIUT is responsible for the day to day management of the assessment records of students enrolled by WIUT. The post is part of the administrative structures that assures the Quality and integrity of student records and that it complies with the Handbook of Academic Regulations.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- To contribute to the development and management of the Academic Administration policy, systems and procedures of the university.
- To be responsible for an area of work as designated by the Head of Student Records.
- To assist in the processing the Enrolment and Module Registration of existing students, student requests
- To cooperate with the ARO Admissions Section in consistency and compliance in following admission and enrolment processes and to ensure that they are accurate and complete within a customer focused manner and according to University principles
- To liaise as required with the University of Westminster in the processing and procedures enrolment and module registration of all university students.
- To support the implementation of certification policy
- To support the WIUT STARR system and associated process
- To contribute to the development of customer friendly interface between the Academic Registrar’s office and Students
- To assist in the monitoring of the Module registration/Module change processes for Quality Assurance and Enhancement and for management purposes
- To assist Head of Student Records in preparation of confirmation letters, reports, ID cards, Exam lists, and etc.
- To undertake personal and professional development appropriate to the post.
- To undertake other duties at a similar level of responsibility and challenge as and when required in consultation with the Head of Student Support or Academic Registrar
Person Specification
Qualifications.
- Candidates are expected to hold a first degree or equivalent.
- Candidates should have a good understanding of English to be able to communicate with colleagues in the University of Westminster and understand written regulations in English
Experience.
- Evidence of work experience in administrative positions
- Evidence of team working and contribution as a team member
- Evidence of dealing with detail and pressure
Aptitudes, abilities, skills and personal qualities
- Customer Focused skills
- Good level of computer literacy
- Evidence of an aptitude for detail and patience
- Evidence of a high level of personal and professional integrity
