Sports Activities
At WIUT, sports is a vibrant part of university life. The university regularly hosts a wide range of sporting events, such as the Rector’s Cup in various sports disciplines, from thrilling volleyball matches and competitive tennis and badminton tournaments to intense table tennis duels and spirited football championships. The Internal Table Tennis Championship, WIUT Rector's Cup Volleyball, WIUT Rector's Cup Basketball, and WIUT Rector's Cup Table Tennis are just a few examples of the opportunities provided for students to exhibit their athletic abilities within a friendly yet competitive environment. These events not only highlight students’ teamwork, determination, and resilience but also create an electrifying atmosphere of passion and sportsmanship. WIUT places special emphasis on both group and grassroots sports, fostering a sense of unity and inclusiveness.


Guest Lectures and Workshops
A standout initiative at WIUT is the organisation of guest lectures and seminars featuring renowned athletes, giving students a unique opportunity to gain first-hand insights from sports professionals. Among the distinguished speakers were Paris 2024 Olympic Champions Diyora Keldiyorova, Ulugbek Rashitov, and Razambek Jamalov, whose personal stories of perseverance and triumph have deeply inspired the student community. These sessions highlight the realities of professional sports and motivate students to pursue their athletic ambitions with renewed determination.
GYM and Fitness
Our fully-equipped indoor Sports Centre has a gym as well as an indoor stadium for mini-football, handball, badminton and volleyball. Outdoor sport facilities include basketball and football fields. Moreover, staff members can attend music, art club, yoga and fitness lessons. In addition, there is a gym for women at ATB that has been furnished with new sport equipment. Our two student dormitories house indoor gyms offering a state-of-theart equipment, designed to cater to the diverse interests of students. Our in-house qualified gym instructors can support students with an exercise plan to get started or get them to their goals more effectively. The sports center enables students to practice a variety of sports, at all times of the year and in all types of weather, giving them the opportunity to boost their health. The complexes are equipped with modern sports equipment and can accommodate a large number of students at any given time. Gym locker rooms and washrooms are available for students to get ready for exercise and refresh after a workout.


Glory and Notable Achievements
An inspiring example of dedication and perseverance is Ulugbek Usmanov, our talented student, whose remarkable achievement of winning a bronze medal at the FIE (International Fencing Federation) Junior Foil World Cup in Tashkent 2025 has become a great pride for our country. His success not only showcases his personal commitment to excellence but also motivates fellow students to explore and excel in both traditional and less conventional sports, proving that with passion and hard work, every goal is within reach.
Sports Clubs
The Sports Club at WIUT is a vibrant and popular community among students. It serves as a space for regular workouts and individual fitness programmes, as well as a hub for organising a variety of competitions and tournaments. From thrilling volleyball and football matches to intense badminton and table tennis championships, the Sports Club actively fosters a spirit of healthy competition. More than just enhancing physical fitness, it cultivates teamwork, leadership, and camaraderie, bringing together students with a shared passion for sports and an active lifestyle.


Inter-University Contests
Expanding beyond the realm of football, our institution actively engages in inter-University sporting contests such as Chess with Universities in Uzbekistan and the Volleyball Championship. These events not only provide a platform for student-athletes to represent our University on a broader scale but also facilitate the forging of mutually beneficial relationships with other academic institutions. Moreover, the University is proud to have initiated the historic first international Sports Match, featuring Volleyball and Basketball matches against the University of Westminster (UoW). Such international sports engagements not only bolster cross-cultural understanding and collaboration between academic institutions but also serve as a catalyst for continuous improvement in sporting prowess.
WIUT Wolf
University sports is not the same without larger-than-life character that waggles its oversized hands to pump up the crowd. In 2025 WIUT introduced its very first mascot that has become iconic symbols of university spirit and unity. This symbol of strength, loyalty, intelligence, and teamwork inspire and instill pride, competitiveness, and a sense of community among students and athletes.

Staff Sport Activities
What makes the tournaments at WIUT even more special is that they are not limited to students — university staff also enthusiastically take part, further strengthening the community spirit and making every competition a true celebration of athletic excellence. WIUT welcomes all staff to use the facilities, we have a wide range of opportunities to fit in and around a workday helping to stay on target to meet their health and fitness goals. Our campus offers world class gym, fitted with the latest equipment. Annual tournaments in badminton, tennis, mini football, table tennis, chess are popular among the staff.
Our institution embraces the competitive spirit among students residing in university dormitories. Regular sports competitions are organised between the two WIUT dormitory students, serving as catalysts for fostering bonds, enhancing interpersonal relationships, and creating a vibrant community within our academic environment. Additionally, WIUT organises championships such as chess and Zakovat to promote intellectual development, critical thinking, and strategic decision-making. Chess, in particular, is highly regarded as a sport that fosters cognitive skills, patience, and mental resilience. By hosting chess championships and similar events, University provides a platform for students and faculty to engage in intellectually stimulating activities, contributing to their holistic development. Furthermore, these events foster a sense of community, camaraderie, and healthy competition among participants, reinforcing the values of discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork. WIUT organised a first-ever Chess Tournament involving 12 esteemed International Universities on December 12, 2022. This special "Chess Cup" was carefully arranged to honor the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of Uzbekistan. The central focus of this notable event was the presence of Nodirbek Abdusattarov, a distinguished Chess Grandmaster and the current World Rapid Chess Champion. He generously delivered a guest lecture during this significant occasion, sharing valuable insights from his successful career with the attending students. Furthermore, WIUT organized a collaborative event, namely Family Day, tailored for the university staff and their children. This day featured an array of stimulating sports challenges alongside Zumba dance tutorials, both skillfully conducted by professional trainers from BeFit Pro. This concerted effort signifies WIUT's proactive initiative to promote a culture of healthy living among its staff members, emphasizing the institution's dedication to advocating and embodying a wholesome lifestyle.

Finally, WIUT has established collaborations with the Polo Association to coordinate outdoor sporting activities. Such partnerships exemplify WIUT's commitment to providing a holistic educational experience that extends beyond the confines of traditional academic pursuits. This joint effort to arrange outdoor sports matches with the university's aim of promoting physical well-being and encouraging a balanced approach to student development.
