The module is designed to help students understand, evaluate and apply the principles and practice of Strategic Leadership. Future leaders must craft a vision to address the complexities of the business environment and apply various analytical frameworks to synthesise a myriad of information. It is also the leader’s role to address external business challenges by developing internal strategic capabilities of the organisation to maintain a sustainable competitive advantage. Strategic leadership focuses on integrating theories and concepts to formulate and implement a strategy that supports the firm's business objectives in a sustainable, ethical, and effective manner.

Assessment: The first assessment coursework is an individual written report assessing students' ability to analyse leader’s vision and style and examine its impact on the strategic goals of the organisation. The students will be required to perform internal and external strategic analysis of the company and demonstrate an understanding of the leader’s influence on dealing with issues posed by the external environment by strategizing and building internal capabilities of the organization.

The Sustainable Finance and Banking module explores the integration of environmental, social, and governance factors into financial decision-making. The module covers sustainable investment strategies, risk management, and the role of financial institutions in promoting sustainability. In addition, it examines global regulations, green finance, and ethical banking practices, offering practical insights into driving positive environmental and social outcomes.

Assessment: There are two assessments: Individual Coursework that analyses a real-world case study on the implementation of sustainable finance practices within a financial institution. The report should address key sustainability challenges, propose solutions, and assess the effectiveness of the institution's strategies in promoting environmental, social, and governance factors. In-class Test assesses students' knowledge of sustainable finance principles, ESG integration, regulatory frameworks, and sustainable investment strategies covered throughout the module.

Please note: Not all option modules will necessarily be offered in any one year. In addition, timetabling and limited spaces may mean you cannot do your first choice of modules.

To be awarded the MBA degree, students must complete 180 credits

  • Applicants should normally hold an Undergraduate degree (or equivalent) from a recognised higher education institution with a minimum of a second lower class honours (2:2 or equivalent). Applicants without a formal higher education qualification or a formal qualification that is not at an equivalent academic standard, may be considered if the following conditions apply:

    They are or have been in employment where their role is in the area of the course and involves a high level of analysis and critical thinking.

  • Applicants must have:

    • Had their first or second degree (or equivalent) taught and assessed in English; or
    • IELTS with an overall score of at least 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in writing or another English Language Test recognised by the University of Westminster; or
    • The required pass level on the Preparatory Language Course for PG studies: Preparatory Language Course for Master's degree

    We accept the TOEFL (IBT (In person test) for entry to our programmes. We also accept TOEFL ‘My Best Scores’ where it relates to TOEFL iBT test results.

    • TOEFL score should be 88 overall with a minimum of 21 in Writing

    Please note that the TOEFL Home Edition (Online test) is not accepted for entry to WIUT degree programmes.

Hasan A K M Kamrul

Hasan A K M Kamrul is the Course Leader for the MBA in Finance at Westminster International University in Tashkent and a Senior Lecturer in Finance. He holds an MBA and a PhD from Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University in Japan.

With 10 years of commercial banking experience, Dr. Hasan has been working in a university setting since 2015. His research domain includes Banking Regulation and Financial Stability, Entrepreneurial Finance, Governance of Financial Institutions, Fintech, and Digital Currency. His latest research focuses on green finance in the Global South and the regulations of climate-related financial risk disclosures.
