UNESCO AND JEAN MONNET CHAIRS
WIUT hosts (1) UNESCO Chair in Future Studies for Anticipatory Governance and Sustainable Policymaking, (2) UNESCO Chair in Knowledge Economy, and (3) Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Actions Chair on Establishing Central Asian Centre for European Trade Law.
Prof. John A. Sweeney and Dr. Peter Malvicini from CPRO are the co-chairs in Future Studies for Anticipatory Governance and Sustainable Policymaking. The UNESCO Chair is the first of its kind in Central Asia and will promote research, training, teaching on futures studies for policymakers by linking to the government’s ongoing reforms and for scholars and students.
Dr. Behzod Alimov (Graduate School / Economics Department) is the UNESCO Chair in Knowledge Economy. The Chair aims to contribute to UNESCO’s priorities and strategies in Education, while implementing a number of research and outreach activities in the field of knowledge economy and sustainable development and serving as a platform for knowledge sharing, in partnership with UNESCO entities and other institutions.
Dr. Akbar Ismanjanov (Law Department) chairs Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Actions in the field of Higher Education on Establishing Central Asian Centre for European Trade Law. This project aims to facilitate trade relations of Uzbekistan with EU through education and training programs tailored to equip future legal professionals with necessary knowledge base and skillset in trading with EU and assistance in this process.
