Summary of Position and Key Responsibilities

Course Leaders/Course Coordinator play a pivotal role in the management, planning, and execution of the Cambridge A-Level courses at Westminster International University in Tashkent (WIUT). They collaborate with Heads of Departments to ensure that course delivery adheres to the curriculum's requirements and enriches the overall student learning experience.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: 

Leadership

  • To lead a course team with high standards of delivery;
  • To be the main point of reference for students registered on the course.

Quality Assurance and Enhancement

  • Ensure the Cambridge A-Level student experience aligns with the highest quality standards, meeting student expectations and satisfying graduate destination providers.
  • Oversee curriculum development within the Cambridge A-Level program to ensure it meets expected graduate outcomes.
  • Fulfill the Quality Assurance requirements of the course, completing the AMPR (Annual Monitoring and Planning Review) cycle, and actively contributing to quality enhancement.
  • Collect and act upon student feedback from the course.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Department and Module leaders to ensure that course delivery, assessment, and student experience consistently meet the highest standards.
  • Ensure that the validated conditions and requirements are consistently maintained.

Student Experience and Achievement

  • Participate in the admissions process, ensuring that new students meet admission requirements in collaboration with the Marketing and Admissions teams.
  • Promote the Cambridge A-Level course responsibly.
  • Monitor student progression and achievement, taking necessary actions to maintain and enhance student performance.
  • Provide student induction and guidance for new students, ensuring ongoing students understand and adhere to university requirements.
  • Address student progression and related issues promptly.
  • Foster a course spirit that reflects the objectives and rationale of the Cambridge A-Level program, aligning with the university's policies, procedures, and culture.
  • Establish effective communication channels with students on the course.
  • Collaborate with other course leaders to share best practices.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

The person appointed to this post should be able to demonstrate the following essential elements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Hold a higher degree, preferably a PhD, and/or relevant professional qualifications, preferably from an internationally recognized institution of Higher Education.
  • Proficiency in English, either with a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 or a subject qualification taught and assessed in English, as per the policy for Academic staff at WIUT.
  • Experience in running qualifications exams, such as Cambridge As&A-Levels, and a strong understanding of examination processes and procedures.

EXPERIENCE

  • Understanding of the requirements for teaching in Higher Education, particularly in an international environment.
  • Specialized interest and output in teaching and research.
  • Evidence of an understanding of Quality Enhancement and its contribution to the overall student experience, with an application to educational processes.
  • Demonstrated ability in policy formulation and execution.
  • Experience in handling student academic advice and requests, or in a position of influence and leadership.
  • Excellent writing and reporting skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including presentation and communication abilities.
  • Adequate computer literacy.
