As part of WIUT’s commitment to student engagement Rector along with Senior Leadership of University held a meeting with Course Representatives.
From setting up more exchange opportunities abroad to enhancing student comfort and facilities on campus, a lot of points were discussed in the meeting. Representatives from the university gave thorough explanations of the ways in which WIUT can assist students.

On 2 October, Westminster International University in Tashkent hosted the second session of the SDG Course, which focused on SDG 2: Zero Hunger. Our guest speaker, Mr Sherzod Umarov, Assistant Representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Uzbekistan, delivered a concentrated and insightful talk on advancing food security and the challenges of sustainable agriculture in the region.
We thank Mr Umarov for his expertise and practical perspective, and we are grateful to all staff and students who attended and contributed to the discussion. The session reinforced the importance of collaborative, evidence-based approaches to tackle hunger and to promote resilient, sustainable food systems across Central Asia.

On 2 October, Westminster International University in Tashkent held its annual Clubs’ Day. The campus came alive as more than 70 student clubs set up their stands, ranging from academic and professional groups to sports, arts and cultural clubs.
It was a vibrant day that encouraged students to join in, meet new people and make the most of life at WIUT.

Westminster International University in Tashkent (WIUT) has officially launched the 2025–2026 edition of its Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Course under the leadership of Rector Dr Komiljon Karimov. The course unites students across all levels to engage with global challenges through the framework of the UN SDGs.
The opening session, dedicated to SDG 1: No Poverty, featured guest speaker Mr Obid Khakimov, Deputy Advisor to the President of Uzbekistan on Economic Policy. He discussed current socioeconomic reforms and engaged in dialogue with more than 75 students, setting a strong foundation for the semester ahead.

On 24 September 2025, WIUT hosted two important events aimed at enhancing students’ legal awareness and promoting a safe, responsible environment. The first meeting, “Cybersecurity and the Prevention of Offences,” featured Ulugʻbek Choriev, representative of the Cybercrime Prevention Department at the Tashkent City Main Department of Internal Affairs. Mr Choriev outlined the growing risks of cybercrime, effective ways to protect personal data and accounts, and the importance of digital responsibility for students.
The second roundtable involved representatives of Mirobod District law enforcement and was addressed by A. Aydarov, First Deputy Head of the Mirobod District Internal Affairs Department. The discussion focused on the prevention of offences and the dangers of drug abuse, emphasising respect for the law, the real consequences of harmful behaviours, and the role young people must play in building a healthy, law-abiding society.
Both events concluded with practical recommendations and commitments to continue awareness-raising activities, regular seminars and workshops, as well as initiatives that promote healthy lifestyles, responsible online behaviour, and meaningful student engagement.

Westminster International University in Tashkent has been named one of five Global Public Health Education Centres of Excellence within the CAREC Programme. This recognition by the Asian Development Bank and the Human Resources for Health Sub-Working Group highlights WIUT’s strength in public health education, research capacity, and its commitment to advancing health systems in Uzbekistan and the wider region.
As a Centre of Excellence, WIUT will contribute to regional cooperation by developing innovative curricula, supporting harmonisation of education standards, and leading joint research and training initiatives with CAREC partners and organisations such as the WHO, GIZ, and leading universities. This milestone affirms WIUT’s growing role as a regional leader in public health and its dedication to shaping a healthier and more resilient future.

From 23–26 September 2025, the four-day event brought together ministries, government agencies and international experts to strengthen capacity for looking forward to policymaking. Led by foresight and innovation governance expert Mr Daniel Riveong, sessions provided practical tools for integrating creativity and foresight into policy design.
Discussions focused on national priorities such as climate change, sustainable urban development, environmental protection and the green transition. The initiative supports the Uzbekistan-2030 Strategy and reinforces the country’s role in regional cooperation within the CAREC framework.

Westminster International University in Tashkent and TOBB ETÜ Tashkent have signed a Memorandum of Understanding.
The agreement will promote joint research across all academic disciplines offered by both institutions, drawing on their shared strengths and strategic priorities to foster innovation, knowledge exchange and academic excellence.

Westminster International University in Tashkent and the Investment Promotion Agency under the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation, endorsed by the Acting Director Mansurjon Rasulev and WIUT Rector Komiljon Karimov.
The partnership focuses on improving investment legislation, preparing analytical materials and sectoral reviews, and promoting Uzbekistan as an investment destination through joint events and initiatives.
The agreement also opens internship opportunities for WIUT students and graduates, strengthening the bridge between education and industry.

From 27 August to 15 September 2025, WIUT hosted a three-week executive programme on Innovative Teaching Methods.
The programme was designed to strengthen pedagogical skills and expand understanding of the latest trends in education. Key themes included digital learning technologies, interactive and project-based approaches, techniques to enhance student engagement, and modern methods of assessment.
Participants took part in thematic lectures, hands-on workshops, and collaborative group projects, with a strong focus on teamwork, sharing experience, and developing practical solutions for real educational challenges.
At the conclusion of the programme, certificates were awarded to all participants in recognition of their dedication to professional growth.
