PURPOSE:
To be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of sustainability across the University and its community – students, staff, and partners. Coordinate and manage the University`s activities and commitment towards the University`s rankings at global, regional, and national levels. The main responsibilities of the Officer (Sustainable Development and International Rankings) include conducting sustainability assessments, developing sustainability policies and strategies, communicating with stakeholders about sustainability initiatives, monitoring the University`s sustainability performance, and identifying opportunities for improvement. A job holder will also be responsible for developing, communicating, and managing the program of activity that supports the University’s participation in several rankings.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Developing and implementing sustainability policies, which may be related to water and energy use, waste reduction, sustainable procurement, and greenhouse gas emissions.
- Assessing the organization's sustainability practices identifying areas for improvement and evaluating the environmental and social impact of the University`s activities.
- Ensuring that the organization complies with relevant environmental regulations and standards and/or reporting on the organization's sustainability performance.
- Developing and delivering sustainability training programs to employees to raise awareness of sustainability issues and promote sustainable practices within/across the University community.
- Building relationships with external stakeholders, including employees, suppliers, and government organizations. Working with external organizations to advance sustainability initiatives.
- Communicating sustainability initiatives to internal and external stakeholders through the production of regular reports, presentations, and other communication channels.
- Collaborating with students, faculty members, and other departments such as procurement, facilities management, and human resources, to integrate sustainability into the organization's operations and culture.
- Contributing to the development of the University’s Sustainability Strategy, and related objectives and activities – such as applying to sustainability rankings, competitions, and related global initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with the Senior Management, Schools of WIUT, Centers of WIUT, Student Support Services, Registrar`s Office, Marketing and communications Department, Learning Resource Centre, Information Technologies Department, and other relevant departments regarding the design of and improvements to the university’s rankings program and undertaking the data-intensive elements of the program such as preparing and aligning data submissions, modeling potential ranking results and improving governance around rankings-related data.
- Coordinates data reporting requests by ranking agencies.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations on ranking performance and analyze ranking status such as providing periodical gap reports.
- Develop and maintain a centralized database of ranking-related information, including historical data, methodologies, and submission deadlines, and provide data as requested. Identify areas for improvement and suggest changes to processes and workflows that impact ranking.
- Stay updated on the latest ranking methodologies and trends, and identify the needed resources to achieve defined targets and outcomes.
- Collaborate with external stakeholders, including the Government, private sector, and rankings agencies to understand confirmed and likely changes to ranking methodologies, and data collection & reporting mechanisms; to exchange ideas for process improvements, and, where formally agreed, to exchange data.
- Together with external partners, develop, implement, and evolve the international rankings program strategy and plan, in response to a continually changing international rankings environment.
- To undertake appropriate duties as required and in consultation with the Customer Relations Manager / Head of Information and Customer Services

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field required (preferably with a background in Data Analytics, Economics, or other related fields), Master’s degree highly preferred.
- Professional certification preferred.
- Two to three years of corporate, business, and management experience required.
Experience
- Evidence of work experience in sustainability/data management areas
- Experience with higher education institutions or similar organizations
- Experience in producing good-quality reports.
Aptitudes, Abilities, Skills and Personal Qualities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent knowledge of English, knowledge of Russian, or Uzbek would be an advantage.
- Experience in collecting and analyzing data to measure performance and impact.
- Superlative and creative problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Thorough and current knowledge of sustainability practices, and applicable laws and regulations.
- Extremely proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software (Excel skills – advanced, data analysis using STATA / R, experience in Oracle SQL).
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to create, interpret, and execute a budget.
- Presentation skills required to deliver proposals to varying groups of individuals.
- Developing regional and international networks.
