JOB TITLE: Head of LRC Enhancement

PURPOSE: To manage the team of LRC Enhancement and ensure the quality of job performance of this team. Take a leading role in implementing innovation and change within their areas of responsibility, in shifting towards Blended Learning methodologies and skills development of students both academic and extracurricular and ensure that services are user-focused, and at the leading edge of best practice within the profession.

CONTEXT: The post-holder will have responsibility for implementing policy and process relating to the LRC Enhancement Team, e-resource management and licensing, e-journals subscriptions management, management of LRC virtual platforms (Intranet, Moodle and Digital Library).

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review the performance of the LRC from a range of feedback and to recommend improvements to the LRC services and its policies
  • Assist LRC Manager in the strategic planning, development and management of LRC and to contribute to the strategic development of Learning and Research Support
  • Develop library policies and procedures and to communicate such to LRC users
  • Adapt new technologies to provide better services to LRC users
  • Lead in the acquisition of all types of library stock, verify deliveries, organize and process new material. Check invoices, and enter information into library management and finance systems as appropriate.
  • Establish and manage knowledge links or networking relationship with academic staff, students and other physical or virtual libraries and institutions of all kinds
  • Promote relationship between library and users
  • Participate in meetings and project teams, with a view to developing and maintaining the best possible quality of service.
  • Organize seminars, conferences and training programs in information literacy
  • Lead the collection and analysis of usage statistics for library resources
  • Facilitate induction sessions for the existing students, staff members, applicants and their parents
  • Any other duties as directed by LRC Manager

The appointee should be able to demonstrate the following:

Qualification

  • Master’s degree, preferably in the related subject areas of the University
  • English language proficiency as for the Academic Staff

Experience 

  • Library/Learning Resource research skills
  • Research skills in relation to learning materials
  • Experience in management is preferable

Aptitudes, Abilities, Skills and Personal Qualities

  • People management and relationship skills
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of research and analysis
  • Knowledge of procedures and culture of the organization
  • Knowledge of the tools of management, such as procedural manuals, training materials, records and reports, and studies applicable in evaluating programs or services
  • Interpersonal skills- motivating, coaching, facilitating and influencing
  • Understanding of instructional pedagogies (including blended and online instruction) and emerging technologies
