JOB TITLE: Learning Resource Center Manager
DEPARTMENT: Learning Resources Center
REPORTS TO: The 1st Deputy Rector
PURPOSE: To contribute to the strategic development of the university’s learning resources and to be responsible for the general day-to-day running of the Learning Resource Centre (LRC) and to promote the LRC as an effective center for independent learning for student and academic community..
CONTEXT: The post will oversee the provision of learning resources and library services to all academic staff members and the student body to ensure high academic performance among all groups of the University structure. The Manager of LRC will be responsible for the smooth operation of all library services and their further development. The Manager works in a close partnership with Academic Council, its standing committees, the faculty management team to develop appropriate policies for the learning resource management.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Contribute to the overall policy development and management of the Learning Resources of the University, in particular the Library.
- Develop institutional strategies and manage the Library in accordance with the Learning Resources Strategy.
- Promote effective relationships between Library and the academic community.
- Organise the day-to-day running of the LRC.
- Be the line manager of the staff assigned.
- Ensure that the service responds to the library and information needs of the users.
- Present LRC at Academic Council and other committees; to run Learning Resource working group activities and fulfill the action plan of LRC development.
- Represent the Library as appropriate both within the University and externally.
- Order and maintain the security of stock and organise inventory process.
- Management and administration of the Learning Resource Centre budget.
- Develop, where appropriate, new approaches to library and information provision.
- Manage library staff in all matters concerning LRC software, security and furnishings.
- Develop subject expertise relevant to the requirements of the library and to take on some subject work as appropriate.
- Ensure that LRC staff understands and are able to fulfill their professional development needs.
- Manage, sustain and develop resources services.
- Mentor and supervise effective library and information literacy.
- Carry out other duties as required in consultation with the 1st Deputy Rector Academic.

- Master’s degree in a librarian field
- English to high standard
Experience
- Working experience within a higher education institution, at least 5 years
