On 18 February 2026, Westminster International University in Tashkent hosted a roundtable discussion for University students and the Academic Lyceum pupils on “Preventing Drug Abuse Among Young People.”
The event focused on current issues related to the use and illegal circulation of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, and potent medications among young people. Participants discussed recent and past statistics, as well as the legal consequences of drug possession, distribution, and facilitation.
As part of the programme, the short film "Ikki Yo‘l" was screened, highlighting the importance of responsible choices. The session was attended by V. M. Naberayeva, Lieutenant Colonel and Senior Inspector of the Department of Coordination of Activities of Internal Affairs Bodies in Mirabad District (IIOFMB YMB), and Amirbek Sangov, Senior Lieutenant of the Department of Coordination of Activities of Internal Affairs Bodies in Mirabad District (IIOFMB JKB).
Experts spoke about the harmful effects of drug abuse on physical and mental health and its negative impact on society, emphasising the value of a healthy lifestyle, positive decision-making, and meaningful use of free time. The discussion concluded with an open Q&A session, reinforcing the importance of a zero-tolerance attitude towards drug abuse among young people.
