Context:

This requires a culture of mutual respect, personal responsibility and a commitment to the highest standards of professional engagement. The university offers a range of University of Westminster validated courses, and has developed a range of related subject areas covering for example; Business, Business Information Systems, Commercial Law, Economics, Finance, Management, Marketing, Global English, etc.A Research Assistant (RA) will be assigned to a research or research projects, under the general direction of the Dean of Graduate School and in particular a member of Academic staff for day to day management and supervision.  Research Assistants are expected to seek to develop their research, academic and professional capabilities and capacity, and to seek to pursue further qualification study at Masters and/or PhD level. And have at least one submitted paper to any peer-reviewed international journal (Scopus or Web of Science indexed) and publish two local papers during the full tenure of research assistantship. And actively participate during Research seminars and international conferences and present at least one joint work during the academic year.

Research Assistants are not permanent staff (hired for a max. period of two years). Research Assistantship scheme has two parts 6 month probation period and 18 month contract.  

 Summary of Position and Key Responsibilities

To act as an assistant to a research project(s) and to contribute to the research and teaching of Westminster International University in Tashkent. The person will be appointed to a research project or projects as required/ based on request of academic staff

Principal Responsibilities

  • To assist in a research project as directed by a Member or team of Academic staff;
  • To undertake research related activities such as literature review, data collection, analysis and synthesis;
  • To seek to publish research outcomes in conjunction with a member(s) of the School(s);
  • To participate in weekly research seminars, training sessions, research development processes and professional development activities including conferences, workshops, seminars and forums;
  • To assist in the seeking of local or international funding opportunities for research projects;
  • To assist in the administrative arrangements of research activities as directed by a Supervisor, Dean or Associate dean Graduate School;
  • To teach on a range of modules in an appropriate subject area (starting from second semester), and the associated marking and review process, including support to students;
  • To undertake the administrative and organisational requirements of teaching, and related professional educational provision;
  • To engage in institutional projects relating to the mission and direction of research strategy of the university;
  • To engage in the community and corporate well being of the university and participate in the professional requirements for the institutional development;
  • To undertake other duties at a similar level of responsibility and challenge as and when required in consultation with the Supervisor, Associate Dean, Dean or Deputy Rectors.

Qualification

  • Candidates are expected to hold, preferably, an international degree and/or relevant professional qualification (at least a bachelor's degree).

Programme Description

Principal Accountabilities:

  • To teach on a range of modules within the subject area on foundation, undergraduate, postgraduate levels, including the associated assessment setting, marking and review process in accordance with the University Quality Assurance and Enhancement process;
  • Developing new teaching methods (including technological support) and designing programme units, and taking responsibility for the quality of programme units (Prepare and improve course materials, syllabi, assignments and handouts, Plan, evaluate and revise curricula, course content, course materials, and methods of instruction.);
  • Maintain regularly scheduled office hours to advise and assist students;
  • Keep abreast of developments in the relevant subject area and participate in professional seminars and conferences;
  • Developing the research activities of the Department/Faculty by sustaining a personal research plan independently and/or in collaboration with others as part of a larger research team. Conduct research and present results in research seminars and conferences, publish outcomes in scholarly journals;
  • Contribute to the efficient management and administration of the Faculty by: Performing such personal administrative duties throughout the Faculty as are recognized by the University as properly within the remit of the work of academic staff, as allocated by the Head of Subject Area. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

The post holder advises other employees and managers of the University on communication tasks. By the use of written and verbal skills, the Press secretary creates a wide range of PR products and corporate communication materials. The post holder enhances the positive image of the university and manages the flow of information.

 

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • To be responsible for creating and implementing the Public Relations and Corporate Communications Strategy of the University;
  • To be responsible for public relations, communications with external agencies, and the coordinate public relations activities;
  • To promote the University’s social contribution and corporate profile via appropriate external communications;
  • To monitor WIUT web site as visually as in its functionality also check effectiveness of website optimization;
  • To implement and coordinate university’s social media strategy, and the image and interests of the university in social websites;
  • To coordinate and develop appropriate information for publication in a range of media, provide media members with press releases;
  • To develop and implement PR policies and procedures;
  • To manage the relationship with the mass media, stakeholders and others ensuring that the best interests of the university are represented;
  • To ensure that the university is represented in an appropriate manner with external agencies;
  • To help develop the universities internal communication processes so that all colleagues are aware of the successes of the university and help promote such successes in their own communities;
  • To monitor a developing the staff profile, media relations, corporate communication internally as well as externally and promote the news and activities of the University to external audience using different ways: WIUT website, WIUT fan page, other external sites, newspapers and magazines;
  • To analyze and provide reports on the effectiveness and efficiency of WIUT web presence, WIUT image and possible PR risks;

Qualifications

  • Have a first degree, preferably in a subject area that relates to Journalism, PR, Social Media Management or Social Sciences;
  • Be competent in Uzbek and Russian, with excellent oral and written skills in these languages. Knowledge of English would be an advantage.

Experience

  • Experience in PR, communications or related field.

Summary of Position and Key Responsibilities

Westminster International University in Tashkent is seeking Computing Faculty Members to work in Tashkent. In your role as Faculty Member, you will be dedicated to undertake teaching, subject development, research and related administration on a range of courses, including both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Computing. You will also work with WIUT to manage the development of its undergraduate and postgraduate courses, which will have introductory and intermediate courses in programming, information systems and web technologies and advanced courses in business intelligence, databases, cloud computing, big data and machine learning.

Programme Description

This course opens doors to careers in fields such as business analytics, data analytics, systems analysis and/or design, system/application/game development, information system management, security management, project management, knowledge management and IT business consultancy.

You will have access to and be expected to contribute to industry research and training implemented by the University's innoWIUT Entrepreneur’s Lab, which was formed in response to start-up demands among government, students, industry leaders and entrepreneurs in Central Asia. This Lab has a close partnership with SAP (Germany) to setup and maintain SAP products and services in Uzbekistan.  

Required Qualifications and Experience 

We are especially interested in PhD holders from universities ranked in the top 250 in the Shanghai or Times higher education rankings. Additionally, candidates with demonstrated applied experience in cybersecurity, networking, system administration, and natural language processing (NLP) will receive special consideration.  

Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD or close to completion of a PhD with computing specialization for Lecturer and Senior Lecturer appointments and Master's degree for Associate Lecturer appointments.
  • Fluency in English either with 7 IELTS or a subject qualification taught and assessed in English.

Teaching Experience

  • A demonstrated commitment to teaching and students; preferably at least 3 years of experience have introductory courses in programming and web technologies and other advanced computing disciplines/subjects;
  • Demonstrated understanding of teaching i.e. developing new modules grounded in a discipline area and interdisciplinary in nature;
  • Experience using innovative and new teaching methods, including the assessment setting, marking, and evaluation process;
  • Experience in some form of management and administration involving students, faculty, and staff, i.e. managing faculty, student dissertations/projects;
  • Experience teaching in Central Asia or similar international experience would be a valuable asset.

Research Experience

  • A proven ability to publish research in internationally peer reviewed Information Systems / Computer Science journals related to your areas of personal research expertise and/or books or professional publications;
  • Regular attendance and experience with presenting at international research seminars and conferences;
  • Experience as a peer reviewer for well-established scholarly journals in your area of study; and
  • Experience in conducting research in Central Asia would be a valuable asset.
